Swimming

Indoor girl

I'm not sure Lilly loves the outdoors as much as the rest of our family.
She often asks to go back in the house, when everyone else is playing outside.  The other day at the pool, since we couldn't go home because Eli was still swimming, she covered up completely and sat on a lounge chair while Eli and I kept swimming.

Haircut

I found a pile of Lilly's hair in the bathroom trash today. Eli claims she cut it herself, but she has trouble cutting paper, so I find this a little hard to believe. He said "maybe Lilly found some orange scissors, cut her hair, and then hid the scissors carefully under the couch in the living room". He says he found the hair on the couch, carefully cleaned it all up and put it in the trash. I asked him why he didn't tell me, and he said he didn't know where I was.  Ummm I couldn't be far.....probably the kitchen??
Something just isn't adding up in this story.
Since I found the hair during Lilly's nap, I couldn't asses the damage or confirm the story until she woke up.  The haircut wasn't as bad as it could have been, it turns out he cut small pieces from all around the back of her head.  Since she has wavy hair, you really can't tell.  In fact if I hadn't have found the hair, I'm not sure I ever would have noticed.
Lilly also said Eli was the one who cut her hair, ah ha!
Eli is still insisting that Lilly did it, which is strange because he doesn't usually lie.  He told me later in the day that Lilly hit him, so he hit her back with a hula hoop.  It's a mystery, but Eli is still the main suspect.
I guess it's time to go get some layers put into Lilly's hair, and clean up the mess.

Another Day At The Lake

Random Update

Lilly got all of these little erasers from the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt we did at the Hillsboro Aquatic Center.  She still keeps them in a little change purse and plays with them all the time.  She brought them to Eli's swim lessons the other day, and they kept her occupied for an hour.  The little bunnies are friends, they do a lot of kissing and some times share a carrot.
Her obsession with tiny things continues!

The new roof went on our house this week!
I can't wait to have a room without a baby in my closet, and for the kids to have a yard.
Can't wait until closing on the 25th!!

We got a new craigslist couch, since we left our other couch in Oregon.
It had a small tear on one arm, which I sewed up and you can't really even tell it's there.
I had a moment of regret right when we brought it home, I feeling sorry for myself because we always buy used things. I was wishing we could have bought a new couch, and I didn't have to clean/repair everything we own.  Then, before I had even finished assembling the couch Lilly walked over and spit an entire mouthful of chocolate milk on one of the cushions!  I was suddenly overjoyed that the couch was used, had a little dog hair on it, and a hole, because the chocolate milk incident would have sent me off the deep end if we had just paid a an arm and a leg on a brand new couch.  Thank you Lilly for reminding me what's important in life.

Is this a girl thing?  Lilly has to bring half the house with her everywhere we go.  As if I'm not already toting enough stuff: diapers, extra clothing, towels, water, snacks......  Now we have to bring a monkey, a toy phone and camera, sunglasses, a few necklaces, and of course her "sucked on" blanket. When we're trying to get out the door, Lilly keeps saying "wait" and runs back to her room to get something else she forgot.  I guess life would end if we forgot the rock collection next time we go to the park!

Crazy Hair

This lady had some crazy hair the other day.  She's still not too excited about having her picture taken, so this is the best shot I could get while chasing her around the house!

Home Depot

Eli loves going to the Home Depot Kids Workshop with Ben.  Last time they made a display box, but he's also made a bean bag toss, an airplane and a box.  Usually they go to Lowe's, but we had to go to Home Depot anyways so now he has a blue apron and an orange apron!

Lucky Peak State Park

We went to Lucky Peak State Park today!  It's only 25 min. from our house, has nice sandy beaches and cool spray features.  Sand, water and sun are such a great combination, the kids could seriously stay the entire day if we let them.  We'll be regulars here over the summer for sure!

Happy 41st Birthday Tony!

Today I flew a kite in remembrance of all the fun times we had flying stunt kites down by the harbor. I remember when the winds were strong enough we would surf plastic mail crates across the parking lot with the quadrifoil.  I remember once it was really too windy to fly any kite, even with you and Mike holding on to it.  We decided not to go home, but instead we thought tying you in your climbing harness, to the bumper of your old silver car, was a great idea.  The only problem was that we didn't have any rope, only an old bungee cord used to hold surf boards on the roof racks.  You were game and we tied you down and it was insane!  You were 5 feet off the ground, flying a kite, held down only by a bungee cord.  Well, that only lasted a few minutes until the bungee cord snapped free and you came crashing down.  That left a pretty gnarly welt if I remember correctly.  That didn't stop you from trying this again next time the wind picked up, but after that we brought rope.

I sure miss all the fun times we had, climbing, surfing, hiking, flying kites, water balloon launching.  Maybe next year we'll have a big water balloon fight!
With all my love
Michelle

Wild Things

We had a "Where The Wild Things Are" party at the Library to kick off the summer reading program.
We made masks, hairy shoe covers with popsicle stick claws, and frosted cookies.
We just can't get enough of our local library!

Thumbs up!

Lilly gives our favorite spot a big thumbs up!

Gymnastics

Lilly started Gymnastics last week!
This is way more fun then I ever could have imagined, and I couldn't believe how much Lilly can do at such a young age.
I would have taken more pictures, but they make the parents sit behind this tinted plexiglass wall.  At first I didn't understand, but after having the desire to call out instructions to Lilly about 10 times, I finally realized why the wall was there!  I guess they know what they're doing, because all of us parents are reduced to murmuring quiet instructions to ourselves!

What the couch is really for

Eli can finally build a pretty decent fort by himself, this one of his masterpieces!
Lilly certainly appreciates his new found talent.
They spent a good part of the afternoon in this creation, they even ate dinner and watched a show.
