Want a Cracker?

Eli is still sick. We went to the Doctor today and he said Eli's ears aren't infected yet, but they're plugged. He said at this point Eli is a "sitting duck" and to call in a few days if he's not better. It seems like Eli is prone to ear infections, I just hope this trend doesn't continue for too long, poor baby.

On the upside, Eli started eating more solid food. Here he is enjoying some Saltine Crackers.

I'm Cold

Eli has been sick with another cold the last week, so life has been put on hold. The poor baby is so stuffy he can't sleep, which means I can't sleep. He seems happy enough during the day and is still eager to explore everything. I just hope this passes quickly and doesn't go into his ears like last time.

Weddings

Ben's sister Megan is getting married in November to her fiance Ben (yes, this will be the third Ben in the immediate family). We all went to the park today and took some engagement pictures. Go ahead, have a look!

Sellwood Park

This was Eli's first time on the swings and it was a hit. He'd never been on the slide before either, but I don't think that went as well. Sellwood Park has a lot of nice equipment, but a few shady people.

Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge

Our hike today was 4 miles and for the first time we didn't add any extra distance. This wasn't the nicest place we've been, but it's always good just to get out and see a new place.

At the end of our hike I was drinking some water and Eli decided he was thirsty too. I was surprised he likes the water bottle because he won't take a regular bottle or a sippy cup.

Yoga Baby

Eli's new favorite thing is the yoga ball. We still use it to bounce him to sleep, but now it doubles as a fun toy. He rolls all around the room chasing the ball. I have to say I never envisioned the ball as having so many functions when I purchased it 3 years ago!

Eli learned how to make a piggy face. He thinks it's pretty funny and will make the face back at you most of the time.

He also started making this noise where he sucks in his breath for a long time. He sounds like a dinosaur, or a ghoul, or like someone dying. Anyways, at church today he decided it would be extra fun to add a scream at the end.

Lucky us, and the couple sitting in front of us!

We went hiking today in Tyron Creek State Park. We were surprised to find such a huge and scenic park just off of Terwilliger. I guess the park is 645 acres and has over 14 miles of hiking trails. We were planning on hiking 3 miles, but ended up doing around 4. I don't know what our problem is, but we always go a little further than we plan on.

Apparently sitting in the chair isn't so exciting anymore. Eli likes to sit in front of the chair and chew on the straps. He was having a great time today!

The air show is going on this weekend. Our apartment has been dive bombed by jets all day. I'm surprised Eli can sleep through all of this, I feel a rush of adrenaline every time one goes by. I'll be glad when this is over.

Today was Eli's six month check up. He's 22 lbs and 31 in. Poor baby had to have five shots, but he took it pretty well. Good news is his ears are all cleared up. Hopefully we'll get back on track with sleeping sometime soon.

We went hiking on Sauvie Island today. We took a wrong turn and added about a mile to our hike, but it was still an enjoyable 4 miles.

Blackberries are in season, and we stopped for a snack. Sorry Eli, maybe next year we'll share with you!

Bath time is back!

Eli can sit up better now, so he's back in the baby bathtub. This is much easier on our backs and a lot less slippery.
